Who we are.

The leader in ongoing fitness and wellness education.

From fitness fanatics to industry leaders

Australian Fitness Network – or ‘Network’ as it’s known – was launched in 1987 to service the needs of those working in the fitness industry.

Established by Nigel Champion, Greg Hurst and Dr Garry Egger as the ‘Fitness Leader Network’, in 1999 we became ‘Australian Fitness Network’, a name reflecting the expansion of the industry from consisting purely of fitness instructors, to encompassing all areas of fitness, from facility owners and managers, to gym instructors and personal trainers.

In 2019 Network was acquired by the Australian Institute of Fitness (AIF) to support the need for ongoing education for Personal Trainers, Massage Therapists and fitness enthusiasts.

Today AIF's Network is proud of its mission to be the leading source of information and professional development in fitness. We strive to provide you with innovative, inspiring and valuable subscriber benefits to motivate, focus and challenge you in your fitness career.

Network uses AIF’s customised intelligent learning system, IGNITE, to deliver a personalised learning platform that can be used on the go - online or offline. Work or family commitments mean you can’t put aside three hours at the weekend to sit at a computer? No worries, with Network you can grab 15 minutes between clients to access courses on your phone or tablet.

The old way of doing things is being relegated to the history books, and Network is leading the way in this professional development evolution.

    Who is Network for?

Network is for Personal Trainers, Group Fitness Instructors and fitness business operators - as well as for fitness enthusiasts looking to grow their knowledge in specific areas.

To remain registered with an industry registration body, such as AUSactive (formerly Fitness Australia) or Physical Activity Australia, fitness professionals need to undertake regular professional development. FITREC also encourages ongoing learning for fitness professionals. Network is by far the best and easiest way to do this, offering a huge variety of courses delivered via a flexible and easy-to-use education platform.

    How do I cancel?

Like its learning platform, Network’s subscription is flexible! There are no pesky contracts and no commitments. If you need to, you can easily cancel your account online with two clicks. There are no cancellation fees – start or stop your account at any time and no future payments will be taken.

What can I learn on Network?

Whether you’re looking to further your personal knowledge or need to earn credits for your professional development, Network offers over 60 courses across areas including nutrition, strength training, functional anatomy and more!

With the most diverse range of courses in the industry, and new courses added every month, the upskilling possibilities are endless. Click here to check out our full range of courses.

What is the difference between Network Originals & Licensed courses?

Network Original courses are exclusive Network content, valued at thousands of dollars and with hundreds of CECs/CPDs attached. Licensed courses are those which have been independently created by industry professionals and licensed to Network to deliver via our platform. Network ELITE subscribers can receive exclusive discounts of up to 50% on licensed courses, while FREE subscribers can save between 10-20%.

Can Network help me get insured as a Fitness Professional?

Yes! Network partners with Gallagher, an international insurance brokerage firm, to deliver public liability and professional indemnity insurance, which you need in order to work in any Australian fitness facility. These insurance policies have been specifically designed to protect fitness professionals against potential legal action from clients and members.

The Gallagher’s team knows exactly what activities today’s fitness professionals prescribe to clients and participants, and has designed insurance products that cover these needs, providing you with peace of mind. To be eligible for this insurance, you must have an active Network subscription (either FREE or ELITE).
